The stage of numerical simulation serves the need for investigation of the designed actuator's characteristics. As a result a series of static (transient and steady state), thermal, eigenmode and flow simulation analysis regarding the type of actuator, is always conducted, so that its performance envelope is sufficiently explored and properly modified through the optimization process. In-house computer software developed at the Laboratory of Machine Elements of the National Technical University of Athens runs on our computer design platforms enabling the automatisation of the design optimisation process. Commercial software is also used for structural optimisation, compatible with the NX??? and Pro-E.
